Meet Your Fellow Trainees!

Wendy Schulze - I live on the redwood coast of northern California and work as a reading therapist at a charter school that supports learning in the home environment. I'm also the mother of seven children (g,b,b,g,g,b,g) and have 15 years experience in home education. My youngest son had some unique learning challenges that caused me to realize that I'm passionate about working with the struggling learner (and their parents). I am taking these courses to broaden my understanding and give me a solid foundation to build upon. I am looking forward to honing my skill as a reading therapist and educator and see frustrated children find success.

Sarah Curtosi - I recently read and began using Reading Reflex with my 5 year old who is eager to learn to read. She attends school 1/2 day in Senior Kindergarten. I have experience homeschooling my other children in the early years and have seen and used various phonics programs. I am very happy to have come across this program. It's well researched and it works. The exercises are simple to use, fun for the kids, and effective. So I am here to increase my knowledge so as to better teach.

Kathleen Anderson - Hi everyone, I work in the UK in a school that takes children from nursery to A level or IB. Currently I support children in the junior school and have worked with the nursery, infant and junior school to develop a phonographix approach to teaching reading. We were lucky enough to have Carmen and Geoff visit us to deliver courses and that has helped. I also teach English in the senior school (to the lower set - often children are dyslxic or have other problems or have just not developed their English skills - I also have some second language learners for Hong Kong at the moment). As you can see I don't have time to be bored. I am hoping that doing the course will give me some 'head space' to be more reflective and develop my skills. Kath Anderson

Jill Robinson - Dear Friends of ReadAmerica. I am Jill, a practising Primary School teacher from the U.K.. I have nearly finished my phonographics online course. I live in a fairly leafy suburb of Birmingham with my friend Jean and Tiffy her cat. (when the cat does something good we give her a certiffycat) As well as my love of teaching phonics I am a keen meditator. I have recently become engaged to an American currently living in Tucson who I met through my church. I have been a teacher since 1982 when I took a short course in TEFL and went to Egypt to teach. Since then I have taught mainly in the U.K. with a short spell in Ireland and Spain. I had a career break for nine years when I worked with a partners jewellry business, selling Native American jewellry. This took me to the West Coast several times. best wishes Jill Robinson

Sara Lagerstedt - Hi, I just finished the Reading Therapy Online Course a few weeks ago. I am excited to start these courses as I homeschool my three boys. I am fascinated by learning theories and pedagogies and motivational factors. I am excited to be able to have an outlet for that... I think my family is getting sick of hearing me quote Alfie Kohn. I loved the last course and I am really excited to start this one. Best wishes, Sara

Karen McDonald - Hi, My name is Karen McDonald. I'm a learning consultant at a private elementary school outside of Boston. I was a school psychologist for several years, did some health and cognition research for a few years, then started working in schools again. I am impressed by the clarity of the conceptual framework and also just the plain enjoyment of using PGx, which is making learning to read and spell a non-issue at my school for those teachers who understand and use it. Karen

Pamela Catley-Spencer - I am Pamela from South Africa. I am a part time remedial teacher in the suburban primary school down the road. I teach mainly black children so English is their second language. I have had great success using PhonoGraphix in my remedial classes. I am looking forward to the new courses.

Linda Routenberg - I have done this and would like to proceed to the next step. Linda Routenberg

susan koike - I'm wondering how long it normally takes for feedback on an assignment. Does it usually come in under 6 weeks? I sent an email about 3 weeks ago checking that my assignment had been received but have had no feedback on that either. Can someone help? I'd like to do further work over the Christmas break Many thanks Sue koike

Natalie Hines - Hi! I am a special education teacher in Indiana. I use Phono-Graphix with my students and really enjoy seeing their reading skills improve. I am looking forward to participating in the Essential Educator Courses.

Safiyah Fareed - Hi, I'm Safiyah Fareed, PG Certified.

Carolyn Johnson-Gutter - I am a PG Therapist and Trainer with a California teaching credential. I have been teaching reading remediation for the past 20 years. I presently see students in my home office. I home-educated my daughter, Sarah, and my son, Charles. Sarah is now home-educating her daughter, Gisella. I am very excited about what I can learn from this course, for, while most of my teaching experience over the past 40 years has been at the elementary school level, my university training and credential are for the secondary school level.

Ann Sullivan - Hi All, Live in South Manchester (UK) in a house overlooking the river Mersey. It is home to four cats and a four people (slightly less important than the cats - so they'd have you believe). Have 2 long suffering children who were brought up on Phono-Graphix and know if I start talking about it they're in for a long wait. Work as a Learning Support Coordinator in a large school 3-18. So one lesson I can be supporting a Year 2 in a games lesson and the next lesson I'll be working on study skills with a sixth former. Can't say it's not varied. Am signed up for the Language Wise evening in Bath later this year. Ann Sullivan

Carmen Mcguinness, Programme Developer - Hi all! It's Carmen testing the system for Gayle.

Gayle Jones - Hello, My name is Gayle Jones. I'm working through this course as we create and develop it so that there is a smooth transition to each segment and quiz as the participant moves through the course.
