Dissatisfied with the limited results they were achieving with various reading
methods at their private school and clinic, Carmen and Geoffrey
McGuinness
founded the Read America clinic in Orlando, Florida in 1993. It
was
during this time that they developed the Phono-Graphix reading
and spelling
method. Since then the Read America Clinic has provided reading therapy
to thousands of children from across the country and abroad! On an even

best seller status on amazon.co.uk during July and August of
2000. With
continuing concern over comprehension, vocabulary development,
and logical
reasoning skills the McGuinness's second book, How To Raise
Your Child’s
Verbal Intelligence– The Language Wise Method, released in
April of 2000,
has also been met with rave reviews from parents and teachers.
It is the mission of Read America and parenTeacher magazine to provide the
best possible instructional techniques to parents, teachers and clinicians,
and in so doing to change the face of educational content, theory and
practice to those more in keeping with the way children learn.
