Comments: Hi Everyone,

I live in Australia and started using the reading reflex book to teach my 6 year old (4 weeks from 7) to read. We have completed the lessons in chapter 3 with success.

However we have now moved onto chapter 4 and are having trouble with how some of the words change the way a letter sounds.

Example is 'aft' and 'ask'.

I say the sound 'a' as 'ar' in these words.

Should I now explain that there are different ways to say the sounds? There is nothing in the chapter about this? When my daughter is saying the sounds of the letters it does not sound like the word and this is confusing her and seems to be undoing our great work so far.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Amanda and Elise
