2003 Conference - A Culture of Learning - Raising & Educating Children As Apprentices To Life

Most teachers today agree that they spend far too much valuable time filling out paperwork. Parents also deplete critical time meeting the demands of career and the home. In the throes of the day, it seems that the short hours spent with children are reserved for socialization and the occasional necessary discipline. Little time remains for instruction! Read America, parenTeacher magazine, and homegrownchild.com have laid out a model and careful plan for creating a 'culture of learning' in which teachers and parents are building a community of learners. Through modeling, expectation, and the careful layering of activities parents and teachers can raise and educate children to become 'apprentices to life' - learning and discovering in every day activities. There is considerable research evidence that much of what children know is learned latently. This conference will help parents and teachers master information and skills that will put that innate tendency to work for their students and children.
